At least for today, Ocala, Florida has become a haven for those who value freedom of expression. The “Florida Southern Pride Ride” has drawn riders and drivers from as far off as California in support of the right to fly the Stars and Bars as an expression of whatever it is the participants value about it. Sure, some likely have hate and bigotry in mind, but others find different meaning. The organizer of the event, David Stone, said this to Barbara Liston of Reuters: “That flag has a lot of different meanings to a lot of different people… It doesn’t symbolize hate unless you think it’s hate – and that’s your problem, not mine.”
