The worst earthquakes to hit the continental U.S. had nothing to do with either coast… it hit the U.S. Midwest, and it was caused by the New Madrid fault. NASA researchers as well as seismologists at the USGS have been warning FEMA for nearly a decade that the New Madrid fault line, responsible for thousands of deaths along the Mississippi and throughout the Midwest, is ready to move.
