There is certainly far more to this creature than meets the eye. First of all, this amazing bio-luminescent sea worm is not just one organism, but rather many thousands, living together in a colony, similar to choral, and appearing to be merely one creature. Unlike choral, which has a hardened outer shell, used to connect to other choral with a natural cement type substance, these bio-luminescent organisms, known as ‘Pyrosome,’ connect with each via soft tissue. They have the ability to clone themselves. They move through the water by working together as a unit to push water through their worm-like structure to propel water. Watch this quick video for even more amazing facts on this interesting creature.
