Although Disney World has become one of the world’s biggest and most popular U.S. attractions, not all Disney parks have been successful. This is River Country, the Disney waterpark adjacent to Disney World in Florida, which opened in 1976 and closed permanently in 2001 due to a decline in guests after 9/11. I doubt that the closure had anything to do with a change in Florida law prohibiting commercial use of unchlorinated pools and the brain-eating bacteria that killed a youngster in 1980 and lingers to this day. The urban explorer that filmed this was truly taking his life in his own hands as the bacteria has been known to go airborne on hot, humid Florida days.
