A lot of people believe that we already know every creature that exists on our planet. WRONG! Did you know that a new species is discovered every three days? That’s more than one hundred newly discovered species a year, every year.
Sometimes, scientists ‘rediscover’ animals that were long since thought extinct, as was the case recently with this cute little critter, pictured above. It’s called Jerdon’s Tree Frog, and it hails from India. It was thought to have gone into extinction 140 years ago, but scientists set out on a quest several years back to see if they could find any remaining Jerdon’s Tree Frogs, and alas, after three years of searching, they finally did.
One of the reasons this particular tree frog is in constant danger, is because it actually eats its own eggs, making it very hard for its young not just to survive until adulthood, but to even hatch.
