Russia is deploying nuclear-armed submarines “dangerously close” to the United States and one Senator is questioning President Putin’s grasp on reality.
Putin’s navy has become more aggressive in the past few years, even more than it was during the cold war, and Russian vessels have been coming closer to the United States, our European partner ports and NATO waters than ever before. And they’ve been doing it in very provocative ways.
“No one is suggesting that Putin is contemplating a nuclear launch against a NATO country, but it’s not clear how tethered to reality Putin is,” Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy told reporters Monday. “And it should make us nervous that many of his submarines are starting to get dangerously close to the U.S. and our allies.”
