1519344_10201561161419857_1597371650_o-640x449LOUISVILLE, KY.-  William H. Merideth a Hillview man has been arrested for shooting down a drone that was flying over his home on Sunday night.

The Hillview police said that they went to the house after responding to a call about a firearm. Merideth told the officers when they arrived that he had shot down the drone, and that it was in a field next to his home.

He has been charged with first degree criminal mischief and first degree wanton endangerment. He was booked and then released on Monday.

“Sunday afternoon, the kids – my girls – were out on the back deck, and the neighbors were out in their yard,” Merideth said. “And they come in and said, ‘Dad, there’s a drone out here, flying over everybody’s yard.'”

He waited for the drone to fly over his property before deciding to shoot it down. A person should be allowed their privacy when they are sitting in their backyard.

Was the drone violating his air space over his house and property? How can you tell if is a friendly or foe drone? How do you know if wasn’t a pervert spying on his kids? Doesn’t a American home owner have the right to protect their children and homes from a peeping tom? If a human was standing outside your window looking in your private home don’t you have the right to stand your ground law? This was nothing more than a mechanical peeping tom. They need to be some privacy laws here. I don’t blame the man one bit. And these false thumped up charges need to be dropped. Is this George Orwell big brother is watching?

Some drones have no cameras on them, so eavesdropping may not even be an issue. It also said it is next to a field, and if it was hovering them the drone if it had a camera would be aimed at the people flying. It was flying around as he said he waited for it to fly over head. Depending on the height, he does not own the airspace, it is illegal to discharge a firearm in public, and when the guys came to get their property he threatened to shoot them. Id say mental illness is at play here.

I’d say your the one with mental illness.

Yah, you are probably right. Give me a reference to a good head doctor, on second thought, don’t, it seems to not be working very well for you.
