A 12 year old boy, Mathew Flores, asked his mailman Ron Lynch, whom he had gotten to know when he delivered mail to his apartment, if he could bring him any extra junk mail or newspapers to read since he could not afford to get any books to read.
“You know, I started reading at a very, very early age,” he said. “My mother instilled reading books in me…at 12 years old,” Flores told his mail carrier.
“He didn’t want electronics. He didn’t want to sit in front of the TV playing games all day. This kid just wanted to read.” Lynch, the mail carrier, said.
The mail carrier decided to post on Facebook to see if any of his friends might send some books for the boy to read. Mathew has now been flooded with over 500 books, and they are still coming. He said that he plans on reading all of them.
