People across the country have been finding coins stuck in their car handles. Most people don’t notice them at first, because they are usually stuck in the passenger’s side door, where they don’t even see them until it’s too late. If you find a coin in your car door like this, take it out!
What’s going on is that thieves have figured out a new way to rip you off. Though this trick does not work on all car models, it does work on most. What happens is, the metal in the coin keeps your electronic car lock from working by blocking the remote system.
So, what the thieves do, is they put the coin in your car door while your car is parked in a parking lot. Then they watch you and they follow you home. Once you think your car is locked, and you are safely inside your house, they enter your unlocked car and steal anything they can. Some of the criminals have also hidden in the cars, lay in wait, and then attacked the car owners once they get back in their cars.
