The U.S. European Command just released details on Moscow’s latest aerial aggression, an extremely dangerous encounter between a Russian fighter jet and a United States reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea that occurred on Monday.
A Russian Su-27 intercepted an American RC-135, an intelligence gathering aircraft, that was flying a routine route in international airspace. The Russian jet came within 20 feet of the American plane then made an aggressive, banking turn so the thrust impacted the ability to control the RC-135.
“On Jan. 25 an RC-135 aircraft flying a routine route in international airspace over the Black Sea was intercepted by a Russian Su-27 in an unsafe and unprofessional manner,” Navy Capt. Daniel Hernandez, chief spokesman for the U.S. European Command, told the Washington Free Beacon. “We are looking into the issue.”
The Pentagon announced Thursday that it has concluded a flight safety memorandum with Russia after holding a video conference with Russian Defense Ministry officials.
And does anyone think that’s going to make a difference?
